How provider listings work, what NeighborWire reviews, and the limits of review.
1. Provider participation requirements
To appear in the Senior Resources section, a provider must:
- Submit a complete application with supporting documentation.
- Pass a NeighborWire review of identity, business legitimacy, and applicable licenses and insurance.
- Keep their listing information accurate and request review for important changes.
These review requirements apply equally to businesses, facilities, independent providers, and nonprofits.
2. What NeighborWire reviews — and what it does not
NeighborWire review includes, where applicable:
- Verification that the applicant is authorized to represent the provider.
- Confirmation that the business is a legitimate entity (or a documented independent provider).
- Verification of required state licenses against the issuing agency's records.
- Review of liability insurance and other claimed credentials.
NeighborWire does not review or verify:
- The quality, suitability, or safety of any service.
- Background checks on individual staff or caregivers.
- Current availability of equipment, beds, appointments, or insurance coverage.
- The provider's financial stability or business practices beyond legitimacy.
- Ongoing compliance after the reviewed date, except for credential expiration tracking.
3. Provider responsibility
Providers are responsible for the accuracy of their listing information, for holding the licenses and insurance they claim, and for the services they provide. Providers must request a review for any important change (ownership, contact, services, credentials, or service area) before that change becomes public.
4. Limits of review — no guarantee
The "Reviewed" badge reflects checks performed as of the reviewed date only. It does not guarantee that a provider is currently licensed, safe, competent, or a good fit for any individual. Users and families should independently evaluate any provider, confirm current credentials, and exercise their own judgment. For medical or care decisions, consult a qualified professional.
5. Reporting, suspension, and removal
- Anyone can report a concern about a provider from the provider detail page.
- NeighborWire may suspend or remove a listing at any time if information is inaccurate, unsafe, or if credentials lapse.
- If a required license expires, the listing is hidden until the license is renewed and re-verified.
